Woodinville Double Barrel Blended Whiskey begins with the same mash bill used for the brand’s flagship straight bourbon. The whiskey initially ages in new, charred American oak but is then transferred to used bourbon barrels. Bottled at 86 proof.

Distillery: Woodinville Whiskey Co.

This Double Barreled blended whiskey starts with traditionally grown corn, rye and malted barley – the same mash bill as their award-winning bourbon. All of their staple grains are cultivated exclusively for them on the Omlin Family farm in Quincy, Washington. The grains are mashed, distilled, and barreled in their Woodinville distillery, then trucked back over the Cascade Mountains to their private barrel houses, where Central Washington’s extreme temperature cycles promote the extraction of natural flavors from the oak. Prior to being coopered, the barrel wood is seasoned in open air, rain, wind, sun, and snow for two years — longer than most — softening the wood’s harsh tannins. The barrels are then slowly toasted and lightly charred to further enrich the wood’s desirable flavors. It is initially matured in new barrels. Once the perfect balance of oak and sweetness has been detected, it is then transferred into a used bourbon barrel for the whiskey to continue to mellow and complete its maturation.

Distillery Information

he story of Woodinville Whiskey Co. starts in 2010 with two best friends — founders Orlin Sorensen and Brett Carlile. They set out to create a great craft Whiskey, and these two gentlemen started things off right by enlisting the help of industry icon David Pickerell — the former master distiller at Maker’s Mark. So although their business is young, they’ve already won both Craft Whiskey of the Year and Craft Rye Whiskey of the Year for two years running from the American Distilling Institute.
