Description
Kalita Estate Vineyard is located in the heart of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA in the Willamette Valley. This stunning, bowl-shaped vineyard was planted in 2000 by Arthur and Sherry Kalita; since purchasing the vineyard in 2021 Sokol Blosser has been transitioning Kalita to organic certification. The soils here are very old marine sedimentary versus the red volcanic soils further east in Dundee Hills, resulting in a darker fruit wine.
96% destemmed. Aged 10 months in 20% new French oak.
An abundance of black fruit with blackberry, black currants, and black cherry with fresh blossom. A big, rich Pinot Noir with a perfect balance between fruit and tannins.
