Distillery Information
(isle-o’-JEW-ra) Jura is Norse for “deer island” and on the Hebridean island of Jura the red deer outnumber the human residents by about thirty to one and the distillery was founded in 1810 and rebuilt in 1963. Jura draws their water from the Bhaile Mhargaidh Spring which produces crystal clear water and the distillery is known for their versatlie range of whiskies offering expressions from light and fruity to rich and heavily peated often categorized by an oily texture and finish. The distillery plays a vital role in the small island community, contributing to its economy and culture.
